| Come to Summit for all your shopping needs. Summit offers free customer parking in five Park and Shop Lots for 2-hours per space and a maximum
of 3 cumulative hours. No permit is required. |
STREET PARKING METERS

| There are various parking meters in and around the Summit Downtown Business District and the Summit train Station. Meters within the downtown area are for 90 minutes with 15 minutes free when the meter registers zero. Meters are free after 6PM. On Sunday, all meters are free. Other street parking meters range from Express - 15 minute, 30 minute parking and 2, 5, and 12 hours of parking availability. There is no meter feeding allowed at street meters. |

| Summit provides Bagged Meters for companies doing work in Summit whose commercial vehicles need to park all day at a street meter. The fee is $25.00/day per meter. Please provide Parking Services 24-hour notice to have a meter(s) bagged.

| Summit residents are able to park in four long-term parking garages/lots for commuting purposes. A Residential Bar-code parking permit is required to park in long-term garages/lots. The bar-code permit costs $10.00 per permit with a senior discount of $5.00 per permit. Daily parking fee is $4.00. The 4 long- term garages/lots are: Broad Street Garage, Chestnut Lot, Elm Street Lot, and Sampson Lot. Resident commuters can also park in the Broad Street East lot where spaces have been reserved for their use. Look for green and white signs. Residents with a permit can either park for $4.00/day or "at no charge" if the resident has pre-paid parking. |

Daily Resident and Downtown Employee parking rate is $4.00 per day all day from 6:00AM to 6:00 PM Monday thru Friday
Resident overnight parkers with valid permits can enter lots and garages at 3:00PM daily at no charge
If an individual needs to leave the garage/lot there is no need to pay again when reentering the garage/lot if the receipt payment for the day is left on the car's dash board facing up so the date can be clearly read. |

DOWNTOWN EMPLOYEE PARKING
| Summit has a vibrant downtown filled with shops, restaurants, and businesses. Employees who work in the downtown business district are able to park in designated employee parking lot/garages. Employee bar-code permits cost $10.00 per permit which requires an affidavit signed by the landlord or manager of place of employment. Once an employee has a permit, they must pay for parking each day. The Daily Parking fee is $4.00.
Summit provides seven long-term parking garages/lots for employee parking: Broad Street Garage, Chestnut Lot, Elm Street Lot, Sampson Lot, Railroad Avenue Lot, and Maple-"K" Lot and the three upper levels of the Tier Garage. Employees have 60 "reserved" spaces on the top level of the Broad Street garage for their use. These spaces are: 612-643 and 656-685. Employees can also park in the Broad Street East Lot. The City has employee parking at certain street meters on Springfield Avenue, Beechwood Road, Maple Avenue, and Morris Avenue. These are designated with Green Bags covering the meters. Any downtown employee with a bar-code permit and has prepaid for their parking may park at these meters. See payment options listed below. |

| The Broad Street East Lot adjacent to Broad Street Parking Garage is available to residents, employees, and non-resident for long-term parking. Non-residents must pay a $10.00/day parking fee. This lot does not require a permit. Employees and residents of Summit can park at a cost of $4.00 per day or with prepaid parking with the proper bar-code permit displayed. | There are 35 handicapped parking spaces in Downtown Summit. You must have a visible valid handicap placard or plates in order to park in a handicapped space. If a handicapped space is not available, you may park at any street meter or lot (excluding permit-required lots). Per NJ Law, you must deposit the first coin as payment.

| The Park and Rail lot is a 36-space 24-hour lot, which does not require a permit. The fee is $10.00/24 hours, maximum 5 days (4:00 am-4:00 am). The payment machine is located on the train platform and accepts dollar coins, the Summit SmartCard or a major credit card.
Summit SmartCards are available at City Hall and the Summit Library. For your convenience, there is a change machine one block away (at the Broad Street Garage) that dispenses dollar coins. |

| One-day passes are available for employee
lots only. These are made available for occasional long-term parking needs of
clients and consultants at $6/day or in quantities of 10 for $50. Businesses of the downtown must purchase the One-Day Visitor Pass for their needs. If an individual
needs to leave the garage/lot there is no need to pay again when reentering the
garage/lot if the one-day pass is displayed on the car's dash-board. The "date" including day, month and year the visitor pass is used must be clearly scratched off. |

Municipal Bar-Code Permit: Required for residents to park in the long-term garages/parking lots. As of April 1, 2007, each permit will cost $10.00 or $5.00 for a senior 62 years of age or older. Permits may be obtained from:

Residents must supply vehicle registration with a Summit address. If the vehicle
is leased, registration and insurance card are required.
Prepaid Resident Parking: A resident must have a municipal bar-code permit in order to purchase pre-paid parking. Prepaid parking can be purchased from City Hall, 512 Springfield Avenue or ON LINE - click on "On-Line Services" on the Home Page. The payment will be electronically attached to your bar-code permit.
Prepaid Employee Parking: An employee permit is required in order to park in employee parking garages/lots which requires an affidavit signed by the landlord or manager of place of employment. An employee can either pay daily or purchase Monthly, Quarterly, or Annual pre-paid parking. The employee pre-paid parking can be purchased from City Hall, 512 Springfield Avenue or ON LINE - click on "On-Line Services" on the Home Page. The payment will be electronically attached to your bar-code permit.
Summit SmartCards: Prepaid parking cards (the Summit Smartcard) can be purchased at the Parking Services Agency or at The Summit Public Library. Credit Cards, Cash or Check are accepted at City Hall only. Checks or Cash at the Library.
Recharging Summit SmartCards: : Recharge your Summit SmartCard with a credit card at the Broad Street Garage or the Tier Garage located by the multipayment machines or at the Parking Services Agency in City Hall. If you recharge your card at City Hall only, you will receive 10% free in pre-paid parking.

| A permit is required to place a dumpster on the street. A permit is not required if the dumpster is on your own property. If you are not blocking a meter, the cost of the permit is a flat fee of $35.00. If you are blocking one meter the fee is $35.00/day. If any additional meters are blocked, you will need to pay an additional $25.00/day per meter. |

| Summit residents can apply for overnight parking permits at the Parking Services Agency at City Hall. Please download application and submit with valid NJ vehicle registration showing your Summit address (if your vehicle is leased, please provide registration and insurance card.) The quarterly overnight parking permit fee is $75/quarter for resident and commercial vehicles. Senior Citizen discount is $ 56.25/quarter. Proof of age is required. This permit allows parking in designated lots from 3:00PM until 8:00AM only Monday thru Saturday. Vehicles do not have to be removed on Sundays. Cars must be moved from the lot by 8:00AM Monday thru Saturday. The overnight parking lots are: Lot #3-Deforest and Summit Avenue; Lot #4- First level of Tier Garage; Lot #5- Bank Street Lot; Lot #6- Broad Street Garage; Lot #7- Chestnut Lot; Lot #9- Sampson Lot; and Lot #11- Maple Street "K" Lot. |

PARKING FINES
Summit has a progressive fine system for overtime meter parking tickets (Ordinance
#2471). To avoid costly fines, the city asks that everyone park in the proper
lots for the allotted times. Parking tickets may be paid on-line at: Summit Court
